La Chute de la Maison Usher

Based on Edgar Allen Poe’s story “The Fall of the House of Usher,” the opera centers on Roderick Usher, the last living of his bloodline, through his descent into madness and isolation. A crumbling gothic mansion, an unholy love affair, and the interiorality of mind set the themes that Debussy explores in his libretto and score. Haunted house musique d’ameublement.
